March 2006

Maybe…SA called and said that the tech hopes to have the car done by about lunch time tomorrow. That once they get the engine in they have to make sure its running well and such before they put the bonnet and bumper back on.

Almost there :-)

Ok I was really nice on the phone and asked how my SA was doing and all that chit chat. But then he told me he hopes to get me the car by the weekend. I said fine and we hung up. But then as I sat and thought about it I wondered. How long does it really take to install an engine that came in on Monday? Really?! He mentioned something about finiky mechanics…I don’t care about their problems. If this goes till the end of the month then that will be almost 1 month without my car. I mean am I close enough to go for a lemon law…?

Mood: Irrated beyond all belief. Want to drive to dealer and give people a peice of my mind in person, screw the phone.

As I predicted it did not show up on Saturday. That the engine is coming from Jacksonville and going to New Jersery before it comes to Maryland. Should arrive tomorrow.

Maybe I should just suggest they grab one out of a new car on the lot. This parts delay stuff is bs.

EDIT: I have off work Wed for a Dr. Appt. I hope the car is almost done by then and I can stop by and prod them.

I THINK ITS TIME TO SCREAM!!!
Joking right? Nope :-( Got a call from my SA just now he said the mechanic took one look @ the engine in the crate and said it was the wrong one. So doesn’t this make you wonder who is doing what and who has their part #s crossed.

He told me yesterday that my engine was going in…then today he tells me that when the mechanic looked at he saw it was the wrong one.
But what in fact happened was the mechanic took out my old engine and then when he went to install the new one noticed it was the wrong one. Rather then the other way around.
*profanities in my head*

After alot of apologizing my SA said they are having the correct engine air freighted and it should be in tomorrow. I HOPE SO!

I then asked my SA about the engine being new and it’s warranty. He said that in engine replacements that the engines are new. This of course is questionable because I have heard different stories from different places (Right RB?)

Warranty he said is for 12month\12,000 miles or the remaining of the balance of the new car warranty. Whichever is longer. So that means my new engine is good till my new car warranty ends on my car that is 10 months old and has 11,700 miles.

So if this all goes till this coming Tuesday (3/27) I will have had Pumpkin and this engine bs for 3 weeks.

More reading.

Well I have to write about something positive don’t I? Isn’t everyone sick of reading about my car and it’s engine woes?

Any who…I got my MC2 magazine and the newest copy of AutoWeek in. Both mags are great.

MC2 is just getting better and BETTER!! I am so glad I subscribed to this mag!

Autoweek has a nice 2 page spread on MINIs including Fireball Time Racing and M7. What a shocker?! I am so glad to see more mentioning of MINIs in a mags. Some discussion of this on NAM.
Wheels:

Well I’ve done it. I went out and bought another set of wheels. I got a set of Rota Slipstreams in Flat black 16×7″ 13.9lb from 18racing.com (Thank you Jessica). They should arrive in a week or so. I didn’t buy tires yet and I’m in no hurry to.
